I have been to college for computer engineering in the past, but I didn’t finish the degree back then. Last October, I decided to get back into coding and found Altcademy.
I really like the extensive and complete curriculum offered by Altcademy, so I saved up for their online program!
Q: Why did you choose Altcademy?
There are actually quite a lot of coding bootcamps. But, it comes down to two things on what I chose Altcademy.
First, I really like the look and feel of the website. Altcademy’s website really strikes home for me!
Second, I found their program exactly what I wanted. It’s completely online and self-paced, so I get to learn based on my own schedule.
Q: How are you doing so far in the program?
I just finished HTML&CSS. The Airbnb clone was challenging. And, the personal portfolio project was also a challenge, but I learned a ton from building real-world projects using the knowledge I’ve learned in the lessons!
Now, I am on the JavaScript module. It’s definitely easier for me because I have learned Java in college.
Q: How do you like Altcademy?
I was in college and didnt go well. Eventually, I was learning on my own, but it’s quite hard because you really need to be very autonomous and motivated.
Altcademy is great because there is a structured curriculum with projects, and there’s someone to answer your questions.
Whenever you get stuck on your own, you want someone to answer your question because, oftentimes, StackOverflow is not enough. I wanted a mentor, and Altcademy is perfect for that!
Q: What are your end goals?
I’ve always really liked programming. You need to think, and I like to think and solve problems. My end goal is to be a really good programmer. I chose web development because you get to be creative. I aim to finish Altcademy’s program by February 2022, and add some projects to my portfolio and get a remote job!
